The Tooth Fairy

by Steven Duncan
The Tooth Fairy has her origins in the Denmark area in the 1800's. Although no one person contains the knowledge of exactly when or where she had her beginnings, the works on her seem to stem from the mid 1800's. In old manuscripts she is defined as the devils advocate in inflicting pain, and a horror symbol for all children of the 1800's. For the purpose of our figuring we will say that she was invented in 1890.
There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world today according to the Population Reference Bureau. Since (according to a census) people stop believing in the Tooth Fairy at age 7, that leaves 777.7 million children in the tooth losing age bracket that still believe in that entity. Each child has 20 deciduous teeth that they lose. That makes a rough average of 2.2 billion teeth lost every year around the world (if divided correctly by the years of loss). This works out to 70 teeth lost every second, world wide.
The average (census) rate of 3.5 children for every house hold means the Tooth Fairy has the job of entering the house (although no one knows how she does it), taking the tooth, leaving the appropriate amount of money and leaving in the space of 1 second. This dose not even factor in the traveling time.
And speaking of traveling time, since each house is approximately .78 of a mile away from each other, again world wide, the Tooth Fairy travels a rough distance of 495.2 million miles a year. That comes out to 46 billion miles of travel since she started in 1890 for comparison that's traveling from the earth to the sun and back again over 495 times! But please don't forget about the money factor. U.S.A. national average for money collected from the Tooth Fairy is $1.00, and the average for other countries is an estimated $.25, so this busy body has up to this year paid out 103.3 billion dollars to children with high aspirations! If she would have had higher aspirations herself, she could have built 2,910 Golden Gate size bridges around the world.
But that is not enough...If each tooth weighs 1/10th of an oz. (witch is very light for teeth!) the Tooth Fairy is now carrying 645,833.3 tons of teeth. This for comparison is 14 times the weight of the Titanic, the largest ship ever built. And every year She accumulates 6,944 tons teeth.
Thanks to all the teeth she still is collecting world wide, the Tooth Fairy would be traveling at 15.6 miles a second through our thick atmosphere, she would take a bombardment of 6 trillion joules of energy every second...and finally she would be ionized in less then a trillionth of a second.
Does that leave any room for debate??
